As a master’s student at the Universidad de Alcalá I designed a curriculum for Spanish high school students in bachillerato with a B1 level of English. The curriculum, titled Global Citizenship Through Modern Media and Project-Based Learning, aims to guide students in becoming global citizens. They explore topics such as poverty, climate change, speciesism, cultures, happiness, social entrepreneurship, etc. Each unit is paired with a documentary that dives into the ethics of each topic to solicit critical thinking. In addition, students complete projects that develop multiple transferable skills. In total there are eight units complete with activities, projects, resources, and exams.
